The target of most break-ins is the master bedroom. While computer, TVs, VCRs might seem like the target, the perpetrator is in search of items that can be turned to cash quickly. Primary targets are cash, jewelry and handguns.

Nearly 3,400 people died each year in fires according to a new study released by the U.S. Fire Administration. "An unacceptable number of Americans are losing their lives and being injured by fires each year," said U.S. Fire Administrator R. David Paulison. Many of these deaths could be eliminated by monitored smoke detectors.
